MELANIE SCHWINDT, LPC 

Melanie Schwindt is a counselor who is experienced with serious mental health issues such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression and anxiety.   She is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. She is experienced and well versed with those on the autism spectrum.  She is an LGBTQ++ affirming counselor.

 As a graduate from Texas A&M University-Central Texas, Melanie received her Masters in Science in Counseling in May of 2019 and received her Bachelor’s in Science in Psychology from the same university.  Throughout schooling, Melanie focused on children and adolescents, specifically with focuses on autism, ADHD, sensory issues, and childhood trauma.  She enjoys utilizing a person-centered approach because she believes in placing the focus on a person’s own desire to change.  However, she still tries to be as eclectic as possible to allow for the most personalized experience, to include researching as necessary to find the best modality fit for the client.  The goal is to help the client work through what is holding them back to get to a point of clarity and calm.  Melanie specializes in Neurodivergent clients with ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.   

Melanie previously worked at Cedar Crest Hospital and RTC as a case manager/therapist on the adult unit for over a year.  She specifically worked with those members of the population who struggled with suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and various other disorders that lead to delusions and hallucinations.  She completed her internship for school at Cedar Crest, gaining another year and a half of experience.  Melanie also worked with the acute children unit and the long term residential treatment facility in the capacity of therapist. Melanie can accredit Cedar Crest with gaining valuable knowledge in illnesses such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar, depression, anxiety, and Borderline Personality Disorder through a wide range of ages.
